What this template does

The Popstar AI trend puts you in the lead role of the Popstar music video: you walk down a wood-panelled mansion hallway toward the camera with a champagne bottle, swing your arms

What is the Popstar AI Video trend, and where did it start?

The trend copies one shot of Popstar, a 2020 rap music video in which a pop star lip-syncs a rapper's verse while he lives the star life in a mansion: a champagne bottle in his hand and a bald, bearded bodyguard at his shoulder.

Photo requirements for Popstar AI Video

• Face sharp and turned to the camera, in good light. The clip shows your face up close while you rap.
• Waist up or full body works best. A selfie works too: the still adds the rest of you.
• Wear what you want in the video. Your top, cap, glasses and jewellery carry over, and the prompt keeps a long robe or a costume as it is.
• Only you in the photo. In a group photo the model may pick the wrong person.
• Use a photo of yourself or of an adult who agreed. Never a celebrity or a stranger.

Troubleshooting Popstar AI Video

• --- — ---
• The face looks less like your photo — Your face goes through two steps. Use a sharp, front-facing photo in good light, then run it again.
• The mouth moves, but not on every word — Normal: the clip copies the mouth of the performer in the trend clip, not the words, so it is no exact lip sync.
• A white T-shirt, a black curly wig or tattoos show up — The performer in the trend clip has them. The prompt bans them unless your photo has them; run it again.
